Solution
Tokyn gamifies the arcade experience with challenges, achievements, and rewards, creating stronger engagement and motivating players to return more often.
User interview
Before starting the initial project, I needed to get some research from people who mostly go to arcades. This data included what they find the most interesting about arcades and what would be some cool features to add into the arcade gamification app.

User Persona
A detailed persona was developed to ground the design of Tokyn in real user needs. Alex Carter, a 22-year-old software developer from Virginia Beach, represents the core user: tech-savvy, competitive, and socially engaged. He values progression, rewards, and community interaction, but is frustrated by arcades’ lack of modern systems like XP tracking, achievements, and persistent performance history. This persona helped shape Tokyn’s core features, including mobile progress tracking, social leaderboards, and reward-based challenges to enhance long-term engagement.
USER FLOW
The Tokyn app user flow guides users from onboarding to reward redemption. After logging in and selecting a location, users land on the home page where they can access challenges, achievements, rewards, and leaderboards. The flow supports progression tracking, profile updates, and personalized rewards, creating a more engaging and goal-driven arcade experience.

Wireframes
These wireframes were designed to visualize the core user journey of the Tokyn app, focusing on intuitive navigation and a clean layout. Starting from sign-up/login, the screens guide users through key features like the home feed, profile, rewards, challenges, and achievements.
Visual Design
This is the visual design of the arcade gamification app called Tokyn. The visual design of Tokyn emphasizes a bold, arcade-inspired aesthetic that reflects the app’s gamified environment. Accent colors are used purposefully to highlight interactive elements like challenges, rewards, and achievements, guiding users through the experience without visual overload. The overall design balances a game-like atmosphere with usability, reinforcing Tokyn’s goal of turning real-world arcade visits into rewarding digital journeys.

Key Takeaway
Key takeaways from the development of Tokyn highlight the importance of blending gamification with real-world experiences to keep users engaged. Designing with the user in mind—from rewards and challenges to a clean, intuitive interface—proved essential in making the arcade experience more interactive and rewarding. User feedback also reinforced the value of simple navigation, clear visuals, and meaningful incentives, all of which contributed to a more enjoyable and goal-driven journey for players.
